Privacy Policy

YOU HOOPING (“we,” “us,” or “our”) operates youhooping.com, a service that helps organizers run recurring pickup basketball games and collect RSVPs from players by web and text message. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

Information we collect

We collect only what the service needs to work:

• First name: shown on the run page RSVP lists so players know who’s playing.
• Mobile phone number: used to verify your identity with a one-time code and to send you RSVP text messages for runs you have joined.
• RSVP responses: your Playing / Maybe / Not playing answers, submitted on the web or by text reply.
• Message records: a log of text messages we send to and receive from your number, kept for delivery troubleshooting and abuse prevention.

We do not collect passwords, payment information, precise location, or advertising identifiers. We use a session cookie so you stay signed in on your device, and analytics cookies to understand aggregate site usage (see “Analytics” below).

How we use your information

• Verifying your phone number when you create or join a run.
• Sending RSVP reminder texts before each run you belong to, and confirming your replies.
• Displaying your first name and RSVP status on the run page you joined.
• Preventing spam, fraud, and abuse of the service.

We do not use your information for advertising, and we never send marketing or promotional messages.

Text messaging and consent

One-time verification codes are sent only when you request one by entering your phone number on youhooping.com. When you verify your number, you also consent to recurring RSVP reminder texts for runs you join; this is disclosed on the verification screen before you tap send. You can also opt in by texting START. You can opt out of reminders at any time by replying STOP and still use the service. You can always RSVP on the web. Message frequency varies; typically one RSVP reminder per week for each run you join, plus verification codes and reply confirmations. Message and data rates may apply. You can opt out at any time by replying STOP, and get help by replying HELP or emailing support@youhooping.com.

Sharing your information

No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. All the above categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. The infrastructure providers that run YOU HOOPING (our database host Supabase, our messaging provider Twilio, and our hosting provider Vercel) process data solely on our behalf to deliver the service, never for marketing or promotional purposes, and are bound by their own data-protection obligations. We may also disclose information when required by law.

Bot protection (Cloudflare Turnstile)

We use Cloudflare Turnstile in invisible mode to protect our forms from bots and abuse. When you use a protected form (such as phone verification), Cloudflare may process technical information about your browser and device (such as IP address, user-agent, and browser characteristics) to distinguish humans from automated traffic. This processing is governed by the Cloudflare Turnstile Privacy Addendum. Turnstile does not serve visual challenges and we do not receive or store the technical data Cloudflare collects for this purpose.

Analytics (Google Analytics)

We use Google Analytics to understand aggregate site usage, such as which pages are visited and from what general region and device type. Google Analytics sets cookies and processes usage data on our behalf. We do not send Google your name, phone number, or RSVP details, and analytics data is not used for advertising or shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Data retention and deletion

We keep your information while you are a member of at least one run. If you want your account and data deleted, text STOP to stop all messages, ask your organizer to remove you from the run, or email support@youhooping.com and we will delete your account, phone number, and RSVP history.

Security

Data is encrypted in transit, access to our database is restricted to the application server, and sessions are protected with signed, HTTP-only cookies. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we take reasonable measures appropriate to the data we hold.

Children

YOU HOOPING is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes, we will update the effective date above and, when appropriate, notify organizers. Continued use of the service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
